This tool can be used to check many aspects of yor driver against the relevant ASCOM specification. The most useful item here (under Additional Tools) is the Conformance Checker (written by Peter Simpson). Included are a scriptable positional astronomy engine based on the USNO NOVAS Vector Astrometry package, an orbit engine that can generate ephemerides from orbital elements, and a scriptable deep sky catalog server with over 70,000 object names listed.

These components are not drivers they are engines that are primarily of interest to developers. Note that most programs that use astronomical devices already use ASCOM drivers and thus need no plug-ins. This is where you can get the plug-ins that allow programs such as TheSky and SkyMap Pro to connect to ASCOM Drivers.

An increasing number of manufacturers are shipping drivers with their hardware (see the Projects page). If you don't find a driver for your device here, contact the manufacturer and inquire about availability of a driver. Please refer to the FAQ for advice or post a message on ASCOM-Talk. If you receive a message that 'Platform 5 is required' then please check carefully that your setup filename is indentical to the one on the web site.ĭon't be tempted to downgrade your Platform install to fix this type of issue, Mac OS continued to evolve up to version 9.2.2, including retrofits such as the addition of a nanokernel and support for Multiprocessing Services 2.0 in Mac OS 8.6, though its dated architecture made replacement necessary. Mac OS X Lion 10.7 New versions of MacOS installers are typically available through the Mac App Store, accessed through a computer that is compatible with the latest Mac system software release. Note: Do not rename downloaded drivers, this may defeat backward compatibility features and might prevent your driver from installing. The Apple Support Downloads page is most useful for finding software for more recent older Macs, particularly anything that is running a version of Mac OS X, even if it’s no longer a supported or updated system software release, like for Macs running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 or Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5. This version adds unified support for all Macintosh G3 and G4 models that shipped with AGP graphic display cards, including support for both the ATI and Nvidia graphics cards.

The links along the left side lead to the drivers for each device type. The Apple DVD Player is a full-featured, software only DVD player for Mac OS 9.1 and later. Please can you help me by pointing out what I am missing. This is where you can get drivers for your astronomy instruments and devices. My old PC, well it's 12 years since I bought it second hand, and was out of date at the time, and was never top of the range - but on the surface it seems as though it's much more flexible. My G4 is 11 years old, and was top of the range when new. Or have I got too used to using windows boxes ? I'd love to be able to just install something and use it.

Some macOS versions can’t be 'skipped.' For example, if you want to upgrade to Lion, you should first install Snow Lion. Before you upgrade, you should find out what your current macOS is.

And in the end the PortAudio compilation runs but bombs out with some parameters not found / defined. How to check the latest macOS on your Mac. To get PortAudio to install I need a C Compiler. My last failed attempt was to install JackBeats. I can find loads of apps on the hitsquad website, and they look like they ought to be compatible, but they don't install. But it really seems as though this hardware is better, and the OS is better, but there is very little software available for it. I still have my 'old' 256mb P3 PC running win2k and Linux, and now I have acquired a spanking 2gig 2x 1.25gHz G4 mac. How is this possible, when the cheapest Apple computer (the Mac Mini) costs 799, or 16 times what I paid Because I bought an old 12-inch iBook from 2003 that runs a long-obsolete version of Mac OS X on the steam of an 800 MHz G4 PowerPC processor. Yeah, I know the hardware is antiquated, but the funny thing is that I viewed my new hardware as an upgrade. Last month, I bought myself a new Mac, and it only cost me 50. This seems to have a number of interesting freeware apps. One which I had hoped would provide a solution - something for me to play with at least - was Macintosh Music Software: Free (Hitsquad Music Software)
